Fabio Quartararo's Valencia Test: A Race Against Time and the V4
It's a high-stakes game in MotoGP, and Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo is facing a potential test day 'destroyed' by the prospect of limited resources. The upcoming Valencia test is crucial, but a single V4 bike could be the only thing standing between progress and disaster.
This weekend's Valencia Grand Prix is more than just a race; it's likely the final chapter for Yamaha's iconic inline-four MotoGP bike. But the real buzz is around the V4, a new engine Yamaha has been developing, marking a significant shift in their approach.
Yamaha has been working hard on the V4, and Augusto Fernandez has already had two races with it this season. This weekend in Valencia, he'll get a third chance to test it out, with some new components to try out. However, the real test comes on Tuesday, when all four Yamaha riders will get their hands on the V4. But here's where it gets controversial: they might only have one bike each!
Fabio Quartararo is understandably concerned. He openly admitted his worries, stating, "I have no idea. I mean, I hope we don’t have only one, because a bad crash on Tuesday morning in Turn 4 can destroy all of the test."
2025 Season: A Mixed Bag for Yamaha
While the 2025 season has shown improvement for Yamaha compared to the previous year, they're still facing challenges. Despite finishing last in the constructors' standings, Quartararo has managed to secure a few podium finishes and even five pole positions. This shows the potential, but recurring issues continue to plague the team.
Quartararo has expressed his frustrations throughout the year, especially after his initial experience with the V4 at the Misano test, which was less than enthusiastic. But amidst the challenges, Quartararo sees personal growth.
"My personal side is I’m giving my best," he explained. "I’ve learned this year that I would be pushing the same if it’s for first position, fifth position or 10th position. And I think that this is something that I’ve really improved during this 2025 season."
Commitment is Key
And this is the part most people miss: Quartararo's dedication remains unwavering, regardless of the race position. He's learned to give his all, whether fighting for the top spot or battling further down the grid. It's a testament to his commitment and a sign of his evolving approach to racing.
