Timothy "Mini" Tyrrell Wins the RAM 'Race for the Seat' and Earns Full-Time Ride with Kaulig Racing (2026)

In a thrilling reveal, young racing talent Timothy "Mini" Tyrrell has claimed victory in the first-ever Ram "Race for the Seat" reality competition, securing a coveted full-time position with Kaulig Racing for the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

At just 21 years old, Tyrrell outshone 14 other contestants, earning him the opportunity to drive the No. 14 Ram entry for the entire season, starting this Friday at the renowned Daytona International Speedway, with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. He now joins fellow drivers Daniel Dye, Brenden Queen, and Justin Haley, making up Kaulig’s roster of four full-time competitors, while the fifth truck will feature a rotating lineup as part of the Free Agent Driver Program.

"I can’t believe this is happening! Winning the 'Race for the Seat' was something I never thought would come true," an ecstatic Tyrrell expressed in a team statement. "I entered the competition with the hope of learning and growing, not expecting to win against such incredible drivers. I’m immensely grateful to my family, my supporters, and to Ram and Kaulig Racing for believing in a kid from grassroots racing and giving me this amazing chance. I’m committed to working hard to make everyone proud."

Tyrrell, who hails from Manassas, Virginia, has made a name for himself in the CARS Tour since 2019, accumulating 88 starts and achieving three wins in 2025, including a standout performance that earned him a $50,000 prize at the Throwback Classic held at Hickory Motor Speedway.

To secure his ride with Kaulig and Ram, he faced a series of demanding challenges over eight episodes of the show, ultimately triumphing over dirt modified racer Carson Ferguson in a nail-biting season finale. Ferguson, while not taking home the top prize, will have the chance to drive the Free Agent Driver Program truck during the October race at Martinsville Speedway.

Pairing with Tyrrell for his rookie season will be experienced crew chief Bruce Cook. Cook has been a prominent figure in NASCAR since 2008 and previously worked with Halmar Friesen Racing for the No. 62 Toyota Tundra on a part-time basis.

Fans can catch all eight episodes of "Race for the Seat" on YouTube, and re-runs are also playing on FS1 and FS2.

This monumental achievement raises the question: What does it take for a young driver to break into the professional racing scene? Share your thoughts below!
