The ending song of the Ranma 1/2 remake begins with the singer, interpreting Akane, stating that she could never feel attracted to the Saotome heir. The calm but melancholic music hints at this being a moment of reflection for the youngest Tendo, as she tries to come to terms with her real feelings. The beginning of the outro coincides with the first few episodes of the anime, in which Akane develops a strong dislike for Ranma. Yet, as occurs in the story, the song reveals that the character’s emotions are more complex.
Despite not wanting to feel anything for the boy, she is unable to ignore how kind and loving he can be sometimes. Akane is confused, claiming that Ranma is intentionally leading her on, making her feel special just to break her heart again and again. By the end of the song, Akane laments how unfair her situation is, a feeling that will become more recurring in the series when Ranma’s other fiancées are introduced.

Ever since their story began, the protagonists of Rumiko Takahashi’s story entered into a cycle of loving and hating each other. Takahashi’s story is one where both main characters can be defined as Tsunderes, which greatly helps the story retain the viewers' attention.

While their will-they-won’t-they dynamic can be frustrating at times, it also makes the moments in which they are true to themselves feel that much more special. The hope that Akane and Ranma will end up together pushes viewers to continue watching. As the ending song states, they will end up loving each other, even after all the misunderstandings and conflicts between them.
